“Pupils who start the journey of learning to drive come in to the process with varied needs. My driving school adopts the concept of learner centred training to help make learning more meaningful to pupils, and for learning to be longer-lasting. But, no one can make someone learn, it cannot be forced, so it can be extremely beneficial to pupil’s driving behaviours to be mindful of how attitudes to learning will affect learning outcomes. I am attempting to create a training environment that is safe, effective and offers value to my customers. I offer my pupils the opportunity to benefit from controlled practice. As my pupils progress I will gradually transfer the responsibility for the learning process to them so as to develop their awareness of ability and increase their confidence levels. For driving training to be meaningful it really does need to connect with the pupil’s thoughts and feelings.”
